Each year the community gets together to hear about the accomplishments and future plans of the Alliance. Over 135 individuals attended CAHA's 21st Annual Meeting on Thursday, December 18, at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center. (Download the Event Program.)
A keynote address was made by Melanie Brim, President & CEO of the Michigan Health Council. Ms. Brim previously served as the Senior Deputy Director of the Public Health Administration and State Health Officer at the Michigan Department of Community Health. She has also served as the Director, Bureau of Health Professions, and managed the licensing and regulation functions for over 400,000 health professionals. Ms. Brim discussed the changing health care workforce and the development of innovative programs to ensure that every Michigan community has access to health care professionals.
The Alliance also presented its Annual Service Awards for community service, nursing excellence, physician leadership, and healthy lifestyles advancement, and thanked the dozens of dedicated organizations that work with the Alliance. In addition, there was a special presentation to honor our Executive Director, Valerie Glesnes-Anderson. The CAHA Board of Directors presented Ms. Glesnes-Anderson with a Visionary Leader Award for her tireless commitment to the Alliance over the past 11 years.
